The Camarillo Scorpions face their toughest remaining league test when the 6-1 Agoura Chargers visit James Ackerman Stadium for a 7 p.m. Coastal 101 League game Friday, Oct. 16.

The game doubles as Youth Night. The Camarillo football program announced on X that all 8th graders and younger get in free with a paid adult, giving families a low-cost way to pack the home side at the 7,500-seat stadium.

Camarillo (4-3 overall, 1-1 in league) enters on a one-game skid after falling 44-42 at Calabasas on Oct. 9. The Scorpions trailed 10-7 at halftime before both offenses erupted. Camarillo piled up 338 passing yards and 172 rushing yards in the loss, according to MaxPreps.

The high-scoring finish was nothing new for fourth-year head coach Nate Anderson's squad. Five of Camarillo's seven games have been decided by eight points or fewer, including a 17-16 season-opening win at Santa Barbara and a 38-35 loss to Saugus.

Senior quarterback Brad Barlow leads an offense that has scored 241 points through seven games. The Ventura County Star identified Barlow before the Calabasas game as one of the top senior quarterbacks in the area. He is joined by senior wideouts Jack Owens and Johnny Diaz and senior running back Jakaylen Robinson.

Agoura arrives riding a five-game winning streak. The Chargers improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Coastal 101 League after beating Oak Park 29-21 in overtime in the Kanan Bowl rivalry game on Oct. 9, according to MaxPreps. A win Friday would keep Agoura in a tie atop the league standings with unbeaten Calabasas.

For Camarillo, the math is simple. A loss would drop the Scorpions to 1-2 in league play with two games left.

Anderson, a 2010 Camarillo alumnus now in his fourth year leading the program, has the Scorpions at 4-3 after a 2-8 finish in 2025. The team's turnaround has coincided with its move into the newly formed Coastal 101 League, which Principal Aaron Peck described in the preseason program guide as a setting for "highly competitive football."

After Friday, Camarillo travels to Oak Park on Friday, Oct. 23, then closes the regular season at home against Buena on Friday, Oct. 30, for Senior Night. Both games kick off at 7 p.m.
