Moorpark has earned the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) top financial reporting award for the 17th year in a row.
The GFOA awarded the city its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) covering fiscal year 2024/25, according to a city announcement. The GFOA calls the certificate the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The streak spans 17 fiscal years.
An impartial panel reviewed the city's report and determined Moorpark met the program's standards, including what the GFOA calls a "spirit of full disclosure" in communicating the city's finances. The ACFR is audited by outside accountants and published on Moorpark's financial information page.
The city's Finance Department, led by Finance Director Hiromi Dever, will formally receive the certificate at the Wednesday, Oct. 7 City Council meeting. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Moorpark City Hall, 323 Science Drive. Mayor Chris R. Enegren presides over the five-member council.
No public comments from city officials about this year's award were available as of Oct. 5.
