A former Camarillo High School wrestling coach accused of sexually assaulting students is back in jail after a judge found he violated the conditions of his pretrial release.
Ronald Wilson, 73, of Timnath, Colo., was ordered held without bail on Sept. 1 after prosecutors presented evidence of two separate violations, the Moorpark Acorn reported. Wilson faces 13 felony sex-crime charges involving four alleged victims.
Ventura County sheriff's detectives began investigating Wilson's social media activity in early August after receiving information about his online conduct, according to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. Detectives determined Wilson had violated the conditions of his release. The DA's office did not specify what he did on social media.
While that investigation was underway, Wilson was also observed attending a church in Ventura that shares property with a school. The school was hosting a back-to-school event at the time, prosecutors said. A condition of Wilson's release required him to stay away from schools.
At the Sept. 1 hearing, prosecutors argued the social media activity violated an existing court order and that Wilson's presence at the church while schoolchildren were nearby violated the separate school-proximity condition. The court agreed and revoked his bail.
Wilson had previously been released on $530,000 bail, the Ventura County Star reported in October 2025.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to the VC Star. No statement from Wilson's defense attorney appears in public records as of publication.
The case began in March 2025, when a woman told Ventura County sheriff's investigators that Wilson had initiated and maintained a sexual relationship with her while she was a juvenile student at Camarillo High. Wilson was arrested at his Colorado home in May 2025. Additional alleged victims came forward after his arrest.
The allegations span Wilson's career as a teacher and wrestling coach at Oxnard High School in the 1990s through his time at Camarillo High as recently as 2016. He is charged with forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by force or fear, sodomy, lewd acts upon a child, luring, and possession or control of child pornography.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 22 in Ventura County Superior Court.
